Taking a brief pause from studying for my Business and Technology final and my homework to agree wholeheartedly with this. Whether it’s what I read or what I write, I want to find a connection to a character. I can’t “step into the shoes” of anyone if they have no taste in shoes, no specified foot size, no personality to speak of whatsoever!
News to Stephenie Meyer: if you want to write stories where readers essentially fap off to your awful writing, try writing in second person and marketing them as choose-your-own-path books. (Except actually, the CYOA books of my youth were way better than anything SMeyer could ever put out.)
